Requirements to Remain a Member of NHS
Students must complete at least 34 hours of community service
- These hours will not count if you were required to participate, if you benefit from the event, if you were paid, or if your family benefits
- You are permitted to complete ten of these hours during the summer
- Members must complete at least two district sponsored events over the course of the year
- You will receive notices of district sponsored events via email throughout the year
- Includes service at the elementary, middle, and high schools

- Members must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA throughout the year, checks will be done regularly
- Members must exhibit the four pillars of NHS (character, scholarship, leadership, and service) inside and outside of the classroom setting
- Show of good character includes, but is not limited to:
- Not cheating
- Cheating is grounds for DISMISSAL.
- Being honest about the hours you turn in
- If you lie two times about your hours, a full investigation will take place. It may be grounds for DISMISSAL.
- Behavior on social media
- Show of good character extends beyond behavior in school.
- Being respectful of everyone you interact with
- This includes, but is not limited to: teachers, administrators, and other students
- Following school rules and laws
- Any suspensions (in or out of school), as well as the breaching of any laws, and/or school policy is ground for DISMISSAL.
