Requirements to Remain a Member of NHS
Students must complete at least 34 hours of community service including 2 district-sponsored events
- These hours will not count if you were required to participate, if you have already volunteered 10 hours at an organization, if you benefit from the event, if you were paid, or if your family benefits.
- You are permitted to complete ten of these hours during the summer.
- You are only allowed 5 hours of "online volunteering", and 5 hours of "DIY volunteering". Branch out into your community for the rest!
- Members must complete at least two district sponsored events over the course of the year.
- You will receive notices of district sponsored events via email throughout the year.
- Includes service at the elementary, middle, and high schools.

- Members must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA throughout the year, checks will be done regularly.
- Members must exhibit the four pillars of NHS (character, scholarship, leadership, and service) inside and outside of the classroom setting.
- Show of good character includes, but is not limited to:
- Not cheating - Cheating is grounds for DISMISSAL.
- Honesty about the hours you turn in - lying about hours may be grounds for DISMISSAL
- Behavior on social media
- Show of good character extends beyond behavior in school.
- Being respectful of everyone you interact with, including teachers, administrators, and other students
- Following school rules and laws
- Any suspension (in or out of school), as well as the breaching of any laws, and/or school policy is ground for DISMISSAL.
